Lochte's messing and some double standards
First of all, unfortunately it seems that Lochte's messing up has been associated with political views which I think it's ridiculous; it has to do with character.
As a conservative American Brazilian citizen and specially currently in Rio de Janeiro spending some time with family and enjoying the Olympic Games; though I didn't want anymore for Rio's sake to host it; yet, I have to admit it's been great.
I always side with the law and not bad guys doesn't matter the nationality and which side of a coin.
So, I know very well how security is here; first of all; Rio has spent billions of dollars to host this games and its security army forces are reenforced; few people know but the security due to the nature of the games has been on charge of the FBI and excellent Israeli security systems.
So, when an athlete, a medal American Swimmer says he was robbed; oh !The police will really work hard to find the "thugs" it's for the well fair of the athletes themselves and the security of the events; so, when he lies , the law enforcement looses its time, money and all for a false crime; such action is a crime in the USA and if Brazilian athletes had done so they would be in jail and nobody would be on their side - believe in Brazil people would curse such behavior.
So if an American swimmer like Lochte makes a story up it has absolutely nothing to do with mutt complex ! Absolutely not. He wasted time of law enforcement believing in a silly way that an athlete that is on the center of the attention can make up a lie when high security specially the FBI are involved ?
It annoys me when people side with bad guys doesn't matter what.
What's the double standard ? An anthete can't do this in the USA; so he can't do it in RIO as well specially during the Olympic Games !!!
Yes, he owes an apology ; if the police found out it was really for trying hard to catch the supposed thugs.
I know the insides of American & Brazilian spirit and his attitude is wrong doesn't matter where.
I know not a Rio that is so mistakenly reported but a big city that like any has its problems; yet it has its friendly people, amazing view and yes a place where my 5 year old son can wear his Yamulka and be nicely greeted not like in certain European countries.
If there is robbery it will always make the headlines specially with athletes; so yes, it is wrong to play around with security.
When Lochte's said about robbery with man dressed as police I knew it was something fishy and movie like; when things like that happen in Rio they are less Hollywood like. I could see and then later I laughed seeing that I was right.
I always respect the police to use their force for protective and security reasons not abuse. Every time I see the armies in Brazil and in the USA I salute.
The Real spirit of the Olympic is Michael Phelps - He doesn't need any other thing but swim and smile to be in the headlines.
Lochte's silly attitude lacks the Olympic integrity as actions of people who are in the spotlight affect society and good reasoning. Don't blame it on Rio! Don't blame ony mplex ! Everyone must respect the laws doesnt matter where!
Nothing to do with the obsession that the New Yorker reports http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/why-brazilians-are-so-obsessed-with-the-u-s-swimmers-story
